The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) has sealed over 25 shops at Kantin Kwari textile market in Kano for irregular practices that put their customers at risk.
The spokesman for the council, Malam Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, in a statement said the council had sealed the shops for their failure to honour the council’s invitation earlier sent to them after it received complaints from some customers on the conduct of their businesses.
According to the statement, the council under the leadership of Rtd General Idris Bello Danbazau had invited the said shop owners for allegedly violating marketing processes by duping innocent customers through selling incomplete measurement of textile materials.
The statement added that the council would not relent in its efforts to protect the rights of every consumer in the state. It further stated that the council would ensure that whoever is found guilty would face the consequences of their actions.
The areas affected in the market, according to the statement, include the Igbo line, Dan Fas House, Mudan House, Zainab House, Zita House, Mr Zhou House among others.
