Lagos fair: Sanwo-Olu promises improved business environment

In a wrap-up of the 35th Lagos International Trade Fair, the governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to improve the business environment.

The governor represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, stated this at the close of the fair at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium (TBS).

He said the state will continue to prioritise key infrastructure that would make the State safe, secured, functional and productive to drive economic growth.

President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and organisers of the fair, Mrs. Toki Mabogunje urged the government at all levels to continue to address the issues of enabling the environment in the country, especially as regards infrastructures, insecurity, and right policies. 

This, she said, is needed in order to fully harness the huge enterprising resources of domestic and foreign investors for the diversification of the economy and the welfare of the people.

The Fair, themed ‘Connecting Businesses, Creating Value’ held from November 5 – 14, 2021, and had exhibitors from different countries and States.

Meanwhile, Babjide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, at the at the National Council on Finance and Economic Development (NACOFED) conference in Lagos yesterday, advised state governments to cut wastes and ensure that every unit of surviving expenditure delivers maximum value for the benefit of Nigerians.

He said the ultimate goals must be value for money and the enhancement of the quality and timeliness of service delivery.

The governor, in a keynote address, said the gathering provided an opportunity to share thoughts towards addressing some of the fiscal and socio-economic challenges in the COVID-19 pandemic era.
