Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC),Tony Ojukwu, says the commission receives over one million cases of human rights violation annually.
He said the cases had to do with rape, domestic violence, kidnapping, among others.

He spoke Thursday in Abuja during a press briefing on the forthcoming human rights day cessation and third edition of the annual Human Rights awards.
He noted that he was not aware of the number of cases conclusively investigated.
He said every case to be prosecuted was referred to the Attorney-General of the Federation or states as the commission did not have the powers to prosecute cases.
He said the commission was working hard with relevant authorities to ensure that when judgment was passed on any cases against human rights violation, the court order is obeyed.
