The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday presented healthcare digital tools to the Adamawa Primary Healthcare Development Agency to improve clinical skills of health workers in the state.
The digital device, called ALMANACH “Algorithm for the Management of Childhood Illness”, is an innovative, user-friendly mobile application that provides accurate and specific support to health workers for clinical decision making.
The project was executed with the collaboration of ICRC and supported by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, and implemented by the Adamawa healthcare development agency.
Presenting the device in Abuja, the ICRC Project Manager of ALMANACH, Marco Landi, said the ICRC was collaborating with the state’s primary healthcare development agency in many areas.
Landi said the project was an ICRC broader objective of improving access to quality, curative and preventive care to civilians in areas affected by armed conflict.
“The device helps the health workers make more accurate diagnosis for better treatment and more recovery for the children with less morbidity,” he said.
Receiving the equipment, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Sulaiman Bashir, lauded the ICRC for choosing Adamawa to implement such an important project.
He said the project was among the best so far designed to make primary health care service simple and accurate.
