Councillors suspend Bida LGA chair for ‘misappropriating funds’

The Chairman of Bida Local Government Area of Niger State, Dr Suleiman Sheshi, has been suspended.

The letter of suspension, dated November 8, 2021, and addressed to Gov Abubakar Sani Bello, a copy which was obtained by Daily Trust, was signed by the Leader of the Local Council Assembly, Nma Alhaji Shehu.

The councillors said the chairman was suspended for six months for misappropriation of local government funds and execution of projects without seeking approval of the legislature.

The letter reads in part: “The executive chairman is misappropriating the local government funds without the consent and approval of the legislative house.” 

The suspension move was endorsed and signed by 12 of the 14 councilors in the council.

The letter was copied to the House of Assembly, Ministry for Local Government, the DSS, among others.
