Globacom added a total number of 2.8 million to its subscriber base in the third quarter of 2021, a record has shown.
Telecom industry statistics published on the website of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) showed that Globacom recorded the highest number of voice and internet subscribers in the third quarter of the year which ended in September, 2021.
In the voice category, the company expanded its active customer base to 52,934,990, having added 2,804,450 new subscribers, with other networks following in distant positions.
Airtel and 9mobile added 369,842 and 75, 341 new customers respectively. On the other hand, MTN recorded a loss of 4,266 customers.
Also in the internet subscriber category, Globacom recorded a total of 1,497,139 new internet users, thus moving from a total of 37,875,966 customers in Q2 to 38,902,243 at the end of Q3.
Airtel came second, moving up from 36,235,905 in Q2 to 36,706,811 at the end of Q3. Reverse was however the case for the duo of MTN and 9mobile as they recorded losses. MTN lost 1,182,649, thus going down to 58,412,242 from 59,594,891 in Q2, while 9mobile moved from 6,108,151 in Q2 to 5,901,383 in Q3 having lost 206,768 subscribers.
According to observers, Globacom’s consistent dominance of the sector is partly attributable to the innovative products and services the operator is offering the market and its efficient broadband internet connectivity.
The new products include its customer –centric price plan, Berekete and the on-going Joy Unlimited Extravaganza Promo.
