The Nigerian Police, on Saturday, said the complex of the Plateau State House of Assembly will remain sealed until all issues are resolved.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Charge of Zone 4, Moustapha Dandaura, stated this during a reconciliatory meeting with members of the state assembly, held at the Police officer’s mess in Jos.
Our correspondent reports that all 24 legislators were in attendance.
Both the new speaker, Sanda Yakubu, and the impeached one, Abok Ayuba Nuhu, during the meeting claimed the speakership of the house but the embattled speaker said all the security attached to him had been withdrawn.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, AIG Dandaura said the Inspector General of Police was worried about the recent developments at the House, explaining that the meeting was to broker peace among the members to ensure legislative business resumed in the interest of the state.
The AIG directed the legislators to go back and reconvene a meeting within themselves and report back their resolution to the police for the state to move forward.
It would be recalled that barely two weeks ago, some legislators, who were in the House, announced the removal of Abok and elected Sanda as the new speaker of the House, a development that is generating serious arguments within the political circle of the state.
