PAGA Launches Doroki in Partnership with VISA

PAGA, in partnership with VISA, has launched the Business Connect and Grow App, Doroki; “created to simply business transactions for merchants collecting and receiving payments from customers” in a most seamless way.

This announcement was made on November 4, 2021, in Lagos.

The organisers said Doroki, which already had 5000 merchants on the platform as at its official launch, is aimed to digitise SME operations across the country.

The CEO/ Founder of PAGA, Tayo Oviosu, in his address stated that the PAGA group is totally focused on solving the fundamental problems in Africa where Africa is behind on financial infrastructure.

“Africa is currently more than a decade behind the US on Financial Infrastructure. So what we are doing in PAGA group is solving that for consumers through the PAGA brand and solving it for the SMEs through Doroki.”

Speaking further, he explained that Doroki Commerce Limited is a sister company to PAGA and is focused entirely on helping SMEs solve the payment issues that they have.

“If you look at Nigeria today, about 84% of people are employed by SMEs and there are a million SMEs working across the continent. We are therefore, very excited about the journey it has taken us to develop this and release it to the people,” ge said.

The Vice President and General Manager of VISA West Africa, Kemi Okunsanya, expressed excitement over the outcome of the partnership between the two companies.

She stated that VISA has been in the market for over two decades, “When we think about the Nigerian market, we think about opportunities that are yet untapped, we think about the great work we need to do, we think about the SMEs which are important to the growth of the economy, we think about the prevalence of cash and how we need to digitize that.

“We know that Nigeria is the right place to be and we continue to identify the the right partners, which is why we are working with PAGA today.” Okunsanya said.

She added that the vision of VISA is to ensure that it continues to provide digital payments that is safe, reliable and convenient.

“We also want to ensure that businesses, communities, countries are not just surviving but thriving. Our purpose therefore, is to ensure that we continue to add value to the economy. We know that Business Connect and Grow will change the face of business in Nigeria and how SMEs run their businesses.”
