The National Commission for Persons with Disability says it is yet to recruit staff despite the allocation of N750m for salaries and wages in the 2021 budget because it has not got the approval of the Federal Civil Service Commission.
The executive secretary of the commission, James Lalu, explained this when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Disabilities and Special Needs.

“The money that was approved is N750m. Fortunately, we’ve been in the process to follow up with the development with officials in the civil service for appropriate approval for us to commence the implementation.
“The application of the process is alive, so, we’ve not touched a single kobo provided for salaries and wages for the 2021 budget.”
Lalu said over 40 staff working in the commission were sourced from it’s the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
