Police arrest manufacturers of fake drinks in Rivers

Rivers State Police Command said its operatives, ‘Puff Adder’, have arrested a syndicate that specialised in manufacturing fake drinks in Port Harcourt.

The Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, who spoke while parading the suspects at the State Police Command, Port Harcourt, on Monday, said that the suspects were arrested at their base in Eligbolo road in Rumuokoro part of Port Harcourt.

Omoni said the syndicate was engaged in the manufacture of fake drinks believed to be dangerous to public health.

He said two suspects; Akhayera Collins and Christian John, were arrested while others escaped.

Some of the exhibits recovered from the suspects, according to Omoni, includes assorted wines, spirits and several alcoholic beverages as well as empty bottles waiting to be filled with the liquid/substances.

He said the suspects have made useful confessions and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
