House Member cries out as erosion submerges community

The member representing Umuahia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jerry Uzosik, has cried out to relevant agencies over the ravaging effect of erosion in his constituency. 

The lawmaker, in an SOS letter made available to journalists in Umuahia, said Umunwanwa community has been completely taken over by erosion 

He said erosion has separated the community from other communities within the clan.

The lawmaker, who said he had made several presentations to the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) and other agencies, regretted that there seems to be no help in sight for the people of the area. 

He said efforts made by the State House of Assembly to get federal agencies, including the Ecological Office and Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC to intervene failed to yield result.
