Bauchi State Police Command has said that no life was lost as a result of alleged skirmishes between communities in Bauchi and Gombe States communities over boundary disputes.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammad Ahmed Wakil gave the explanation while answering questions from reporters in Bauchi.
There were earlier reports that a communal clash between a community in Ganjuwa Local Government in Bauchi State and its neighbour in Dukku Local Government of Gombe State, which claimed an unspecified number of lives and destruction of properties.
Wakil said the command had received reports from the area alleging that some members of communities in Gombe State crossed over a river and invaded farms of neighbouring communities in Bauchi State.
“After the incident, the commissioners of police summoned a meeting of relevant officials from both states, which resolved to take the matter with the National Boundary Commission.
He said the governors of the two states would meet later to discuss the issue.
Wakil said the commissioners of police of the two states have agreed to deploy policemen to the area to prevent any threat to peace.
