Police in Edo on Tuesday deployed 3000 officers and men to Mosques, parks, recreation, event centres and major streets in Benin City to forestall break down of law and order during the Eid-el-Maulud celebration.

The Commissioner of Police, Philip Ogbadu, said the deployment was to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the state.

Meanwhile, Governors Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa) and Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun) have admonished leaders to imbibe the leadership qualities of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) in resolving the challenges facing Nigeria.

Obaseki said, “The prophet’s message of peace and good neighbourliness should inspire us all to see each other as partners in progress, regardless of religious, tribal, ethnic and political affiliations.”

Oyetola in a message made available by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the lessons and teachings of the Prophet, whom he said, led a life of service to Allah and humanity.

He also urged them to emulate the prophet’s shining virtues of love, compassion, tolerance and promotion of peaceful co-existence that made the society much better.

Fintiri, in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, said the Prophet led an exemplary life of humility, sacrifice and sharing which the present-day leaders and the led ought to emulate.

“The occasion once again reminds us all of the virtues of Prophet Mohammed, which we should emulate in advancing love, peace and progress of the state and country.
