SMEDAN trains 160 youths on agribusiness, grants N4.6m to cooperatives

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), North East Zonal Office, Bauchi, has trained160 youths and provided N4.6 million grant to 16 cooperative societies for agribusiness development and empowerment at a programme in Bauchi State. 

Speaking yesterday in Bauchi, the Director General (DG) of SMEDAN, Umar Dikko Radda, said the objective of the training programme was to encourage the beneficiaries to embrace agribusiness development as a viable business option, as well as strengthen entrepreneurship skills of potential and existing beneficiaries of the scheme.

Radda who was represented by Barr Nathaniel Parah, a SMEDAN board member, explained that the exercise was meant to facilitate networking and exchanges among benefitting farmers.

He urged the beneficiaries to make full use of the knowledge they had gained from the six-day training and counselling.
