9-year-old strangled to death by teacher in Jalingo 

A 9-year-old pupil of Muhawshat Primary School, Jalingo, Taraba State, Muhammaded Suddas Umar Yola has been strangled to death by his Arabic teacher.

Daily Trust gathered that the pupil, a son of prominent Jalingo-based businessman, got missing Sunday night when he went for Magrib prayer in a Mosque located closed to his father’s house.

It was further gathered that when the boy did not return home after the prayers, a search party was organized to search for the missing boy.

A friends of Suddas, it was gathered, informed his parents how the Arabic teacher called Hashiru Bala, has been asking them about movement of the victim as well as his brothers and sisters.

It was at this point that the teacher was called in and asked if he had seen the boy.

Family members, who spoke with Daily Trust, said initially, Hashiru denied ever seeing the victim but when operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) were called in, he confessed that he was the one that strangled the boy to death.

It was gathered that Hashiru led security operatives to a compound where he dumped the lifeless body of the boy.

When contacted, the Police Public Relation officer, ASP David Misal said he was not aware of the incident.

However, a senior DSS officer, who would not like his name mention, confirmed the incident.
