Nine persons have died while 20 others sustained injuries after two trucks collided at Akpogu village, along Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the accident happened just after 5pm when a Sinno truck with registration number KUJ 675 XT loaded with cement collided with a Man Diesel truck with registration number KZR 26 ZT loaded with onions.
He said the Sinno truck driver was trying to avoid a pothole when he lost control and collided with the Man Diesel truck coming from the opposite direction.
He said men of the Kotonkarfe unit command on patrol arrived the scene to evacuate the injured to hospital.
When contacted, the Kotonkarfe unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Kuba George Gwala, confirmed the crash in which he said nine male adults lost their lives.
He said the corpses were later handed over to relatives for burial, adding that the 20 injured victims were taken to Ideal Hospital in Kotonkarfe for treatment.
