The Delta State government through the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Chief Solomon Ogba has expressed readiness to host the 8th edition of the National Youth games (NYG) in Asaba, the state capital.
Addressing journalists, the former Commissioner of Sports in Delta State and two-time president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) said the main venue for the event, the Late Stephen Keshi Stadium has been given a facelift and is set to host the games from September 9-19, 2024.
He said that from the mainbowl of Stephen Keshi Stadium, to the swimming pool, and the two indoor sports halls, it is clear that the state is ready to host the youth games.
The Opening ceremony for Asaba 2024 National Youth Games will be held on Wednesday, September 11.

Meanwhile, owing to their outstanding performance at the North-East Zonal elimination, the Bauchi State Director of Sports, Usman Yusuf, has said the state contingent is set to project the “Bauchi Agenda” of the state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, at the youth games.
According to him, the success story of the 222-man Team Bauchi at the North East Zonal Elimination series derived from the moral and financial support rendered by the state governor.
He also commended him for his unflinching support to the sports sector.
Yusuf, therefore, assured that the state contingent would consolidate on its zonal elimination triumph at the National Youth Games in Asaba.
