An 81-year-old lawyer, Matiu Laogun, and his 53-year-old son, Ayodele Adelaja Laogun, also a lawyer, have been arraigned before the Osun State High Court in Osogbo for alleged stealing and false pretence.

The prosecutor, S. O. Ayodele, told the court that the accused persons committed the offences sometime in October 2010.

Ayodele told the court that the two men conspired to obtain a sum of N1 million from Dr Gbadebo Bukola under false pretence.

The prosecutor stated that the offence committed by the accused persons was contrary to Section 8 1(a) (b) and (2), punishable under Section 1(3) of the Advance Free Fraud and other Related Offences Act, Cap A6, Volume 1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2006.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel, S. B. Ajibade, prayed the court to grant his clients bail on self-recognition.

The judge, W. O. Akanbi, gave the defendants bail on self-recognition and adjourned the case to February 20, 2020.
