80yr-old man jailed 7 years for sexually exploiting 8yr-old girl in Kano

A federal high court in Kano has sentenced one Yau Abdullahi, 80 to 7 years imprisonment without the option of fine for sexually exploiting an eight year-old girl Fatima Nasir.

The convict is a resident of Layin Gidan Mai Unguwar Mai fada, Bridget, Gama, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The victim lived at Old Bridge, Gama Layin Mai Unguwar Aliyu when the incident happened on August 26.

When the charges were read to him in court, the 80 year-old pleaded guilty and Justice SM Shuaibu convicted and sentenced him accordingly.

The charge reads: “That  you  Yau Abdullahi,male,80 years old of Layin Gidan Mai Unguwar Mai fada Bridge Gama Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State in or about 26th August 2024 at a particular place (Rumfa) in Murtala market, Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, Chiranci Tudun, Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano, you procured for yourself one Khadija Nasir ‘F’ 8 years old of Old Bridge, Gama Layin Mai Unguwa Aliyu Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kano sexually exploited her after removing her trouser thereby committing an offence contrary to section 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 and punishable under the same section of the act.

NAPTIP counsels, Abdullahi Babale Shuaibu and Nurudden Hassan commended the court for the speedy conviction and sentencing of the man.
