Eight passengers were confirmed dead and two others sustained injuries after a bus collided with a trailer near Yakwo Farms close to an army checkpoint on the Abuja-Lokoja highway in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
A witness said the incident happened around 7am on Saturday when a Volkswagen Sharon bus with registration number, BWR 662 XB, coming from the Lokoja axis overtook another vehicle at bend and collided with a BUA trailer with registration number, ALR 301 XA, coming from the Abuja axis.

He said the bus was conveying 11 passengers from the East traveling to Abuja when the accident happened.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who was part of the rescue operation but preferred anonymity, confirmed the accident and the casualty figures.
