The Lagos State Ministry of Justice has released list of ongoing criminal prosecution of police officers for offences related to violation of human rights in the State.
Eight officers are being prosecuted for murder. Others face trial for attempted murder, manslaughter, armed robbery and involuntary manslaughter
The list which contains name of cases, outlining names of plaintiffs and defendants; offences committed, names of court/judge assigned to each case as well as current status of the cases.
Offences outlined in the list ranges from manslaughter to murder, grievous bodily harm, attempted murder, involuntary manslaughter and armed robbery among others.
The Attorney General of the State, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) made known that the Ministry has overtime been committed to the prosecution of the listed related cases of police abuses.
Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu had also tweeted that, “Today seems like a good day to get on to the work of rebuilding Lagos and ending police brutality. To show our commitment to the latter, here is a list of ongoing prosecution of police officers for offences related to the violation of human rights in Lagos.”
