The Vice-Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, yesterday said the eight months’ industrial strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was a great setback to scholarship.

She stated this yesterday while briefing newsmen on the 53rd Special Convocation ceremony to also celebrate the university’s 60th anniversary, where a total of 2,251 students across various programmes will receive their degrees, diplomas and certificates.

Following ASUU strike which disrupted Academic activities in public universities, UNILAG would only graduate postgraduate students.

Normally UNILAG graduates between 10,000 to 12,000 graduands.

According to her, the past year has been characterised by various challenges to tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
