A cult clash has claimed the lives of at least eight people in Onyagede community of Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
Witnesses said the clash between the Vikings and Black axe cult groups happened in the early hours of Monday.

Locals told our correspondent that many others were also injured in the clash, while villagers have deserted the rural town for fear of sporadic gunshots.
A former Chairman of Ohimini LGA, Comrade Musa Alechenu, told newsmen in Makurdi that the rivalry between the two groups had even degenerated into an inter-communal fight between Ogoli and Ikpoke villages of Onyagede in Ohimini LGA.
Alechenu confirmed the killing of the eight people and desertion of the rural commercial town of Onyagede, appealing to the security agencies to restore peace.
Contacted, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, did not respond to call but replied a text message, saying, “Can’t talk now.”
