Residents say they heard explosions and sounds of gunfire from different parts of the town. Secretary of the Sayawa Elders’ Council, Barrister Bukata Zhadi told Daily Trust that, “we don’t know where the attackers came from. They attacked us with rocket launchers and other explosives.” There are no details of casualty figures yet.
He said that so far, five houses have been reported as affected in the attack. 4 people were also reportedly injured.
A top security source in Bauchi said the attackers threw explosives at police and military checkpoints at Mararraban Liman Katagum. One solider was killed and a policeman injured.
Bauchi state commissioner of police, Ikechukwu Aduba, confirmed the attack and said more details will be made available soon.
