8 killed, 3 missing in Kwara flood – Fire service

At least eight persons have been confirmed killed in the flood which ravaged Ilorin, Kwara State, this year.

Spokesman of the state’s fire service, Hassan Adekunle, explained that, “On 29/02/2022, a 26-year-old man, Hamed, was found dead at Adico, beside Royal Sekinat Hotel, on Ajase-Ipo Road in Ilorin.

“Similarly, on 3/9/2022, 27-year-old Peter Ajayi jumped into the Asa River at the Taiwo Isale area of Ilorin. A 42-year-old woman was also recovered dead by the fire service on 29/9/2022 in Amule River, beside U-Sanda Filling Station, Ilorin.

“The service on 01/10/2022 further recovered three corpses opposite the Abubakar Sola Saraki Abattoir on Sobi Road, Ilorin.

“The flood also claimed the lives of two boys on 02/10/2022 at the Amilegbe area of Ilorin.
