79-year-old abducted in Kaduna community

A 79-year-old man, Comrade Elder Takai Agang Shamang, has been kidnapped from his residence in Bikini-Tsoraurang, Manchock, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. 

Daily Trust reports that the abduction took place between 7:30pm and 8:00 pm, on Friday.

Mrs. Grace Yohannah Abbin, Manager of Salama Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC), Kafancha, who is one of the children of the victim, confirmed the incident to our reporter on Sunday morning.

According to her, a large group of kidnappers broke into her father’s residence and forcefully took him into custody.

Comrade Shamang, known for his extensive philanthropic work and dedication to the Labour Congress, is said to be a well-respected figure in the community.

She said the authorities in Kaduna State were investigating the incident, and efforts were underway to secure his release.
“The community and family members are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in his safe return,” she said, adding that the family, friends, and well-wishers of Comrade Shamang remain hopeful for a positive resolution and his safe return home.

The Kaduna Police Spokesman,  Mansir Hassan, could not be contacted for reaction as of the time of filing this report as his number was not reachable.
