774 jobs: Kaduna beneficiaries yet to get allowances

Beneficiaries of the 774 Special Public Works Scheme in Kaduna State have lamented over the non-payment of their allowances.

The beneficiaries are expected to be paid N20,000 for three months which is the duration of the scheme.

Youths and women numbering 23,000 across the 23 local government areas of the state were expected to participate in the scheme.

Some have received their payments while others are yet to get theirs for almost a year, and are appealing to the federal government to come to their rescue.

A beneficiary, Bala Sani, while speaking during the Advanced Business Training (ABT) flag-off for 540 participants selected from the three senatorial zones of the state organised by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), said they need the allowances to start their businesses.

Another beneficiary, Haruna Adamu, who is the coordinator of Kabala Costain beneficiaries, said he was also yet to receive his allowance for three months.

Responding, the NDE Acting State Coordinator, Madam Victoria W. Dada, said the problem was not with the NDE, but with their banks.

She said they have taken the names and details of those with complaints and forwarded them to the national headquarters for appropriate action.

She said the Advanced Business Training will broaden their knowledge in creating wealth and employment for themselves and how to generate business ideas, marketing plans, costing of products and services and feasibility reports, etc.
