A lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has trained 700 youths and women in various trades to boost their skills and reduce unemployment in Ekiti State.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Bamidele said the training centred on vocation development, capacity building for youths and women in the agricultural value chain in aquaculture, as well as training in post-harvest loss control.
He also said there will be more opportunities for the youth based on the 25 per cent annual budgetary proposal by President-elect Bola Tinubu, for youth intervention programmes as well as education loans to tackle joblessness and poverty among Nigerian youths.
The lawmaker, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, said he has invested severally to empower his constituents, drawn from the five local governments in his district, and provided vocational and entrepreneurial training to boost their contributions to economic development.
