Police authorities in Kano State have intercepted 20,000kg of Indian hemp worth N60 million, the state police commissioner, Muhammad Musa Katsina, said.
Katsina said the consignment was stocked in two shops at Ja’en quarters in the state metropolis and that three suspects including owner of the house, a 70-year-old woman, were arrested in connection with the drug.
Parading the suspects and 48 sacks of wrapped Indian hemp, the commissioner said the prime suspect was still on the run.
“I can assure you that the real baron will be arrested soon. We have extended our tentacles to various places”, he said.
He added that over 2,000 cartons of tablets, syrup and injections that were being used by drugs addicts had also been impounded.
Katsina said about 25 dealers, consumers and distributors of the drugs were arrested and that they would  be prosecuted according to provisions of the law.
