7-year-old boy drowns in well

A seven-year-old boy, Khalid Bello last Friday drowned in a well at Ja’en Yamma, a suburb of Sharada industrial area of Kano metropolis.

The Spokesman of Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, who confirmed the incident to our reporter said investigations were still on to ascertain the circumstances the led to the death of the boy in the well located in their compound.

Mohammed said the incident occurred at about 9:25 a.m last Friday.

“We received a distress call in the early hours of Friday from one Kabiru Yahaya, at about 9:25 am, that a boy had fallen into a well.

“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at about 9:35 am.

“The cause of the incident is still under investigation to know what happened.

“Bello was found dead and his corpse was later handed over to the Ward Head of Je’an Yamma, Alhaji Ya’u Wakili,’’ the spokesman said.

He urged parents to always caution their children from conducting any activity close to wells in their neighbourhood.
