Seven persons and four cows were reportedly killed in a road accident at the ever-busy Benin-Asaba-Onitsha Expressway by Uromi junction, Agbor in Ika North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Daily Trust gathered that several other persons sustained various degrees of injuries, and also some goats and cows.

The accident occurred Tuesday when a truck conveying mostly Hausa youths with cows, goats and fowls presumably from the North had a brake failure, leading to multiple somersaults.

Delta State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Uchechukwu Wihioka, who confirmed the accident, attributed it to brake failure.

Wihioka said six among the persons that died in the crash “jumped off the somersaulting truck in an attempt to save their lives.”
