The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says seven political parties will participate in tomorrow’s by-election for Dukku North Constituency seat at the Gombe State House of Assembly
The election would be conducted in 103 polling units across six political wards of Hashidu, Jamari, Lafiya, Malala, Wuro-Tale and Zaune, to replace late Alhaji Gambo Ahmed Kabade, who died last June after an illness.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Gombe, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, said the commission had concluded arrangements, including the training of over 450 ad hoc staff for the smooth conduct of the exercise.
According to the REC, the candidates to contest in the election included Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed of Action Alliance (AA), Abubakar Ibrahim Hashidu from Accord Party (AP), Yakubu Abubakar of ADPM, Alhaji Alhaji Inuwa of APC, Mohammed Ahmed Hashidu of GPN and Sirajo Mohammed of Labour Party.
Alhaji Ibrahim said about 600 security personnel from the state inter-security agencies would supervise the election.
