Not less than seven fun seekers have reportedly lost their lives in different hotels and beaches in the last one week in Lagos State.
Police records revealed that all seven victims allegedly drown in hotel swimming pools and beaches.
Though the identities of the deceased persons could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, a police source said the victims were confirmed dead on arrival at the different hospitals where they were rushed to.
The Lagos State police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed all the deaths.
Hundeyin said while one of the victims died in a hotel in Mushin, another one was said to have drowned in a similar circumstance in another hotel in Lagos Island.
Hundeyin, who appealed to fun seekers to be more safety-conscious when out on a swimming expenditure, said a good number of them died because the management of the hotels did not have in-house safety officers around their swimming pools.
“Two were said to have drowned in one hotel in Mushin while another one died in a hotel on the Island. Two others fell off 3MB in an accident and another died in a hotel in the Shasha area of the state,” he added.
The Lagos State police spokesman said the bodies of the seven persons had since been deposited in hospital morgues.
Hundeyin further said investigation was still ongoing and that any hotel management found culpable would be made to face the wrath of the law.
