A total seven people have been abducted in four separate attacks by bandits in Birnin Gwari communities in one week alone.
The abductions occurred on the road from the local government area to Kaduna.
A member of staff of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Yahaya Isa, who travelled with his wife and two other members of his family for an occasion in Birnin Gwari were abducted on their way back to Kaduna.
Another source said on Sunday last week around 3:00am kidnappers attacked Kirazo village along Birnin Gwari Funtua road and kidnapped a a former village head known as Basaw and another person at Maigwari village called Dayyabu.
A member of staff of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Salisu Haruna, was also abducted on the same route while traveling back to Kaduna on Saturday.
Police public relations officer in Kaduna State, DSP Yakubu Sabo said he could confirm only the abduction of Isa and two other persons traveling with him in the vehicle.
He said the Kaduna Command anti- kidnapping unit is however on the case and is making serious efforts to rescue them.
The past one week has been challenging for several commuters travelling on the road.
A group, the Birnin Gwari Vanguard in a statement signed by its chairman, Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, gave details of the abductions saying that of Isa happened on Monday 10th September 2018.
The group said Isa and his wife and his cousin Sama’ila Buhari and another married woman by name Ummah were abducted.
The group said the Kidnappers have cut the line of communication for the past 72 hours after deadlock on mode of ransom payment for th abductees.
The group also said Barrister Salisu Haruna was abducted on Saturday around 3.00pm around Kuriga along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway.
“While others that were together with Barrister Salisu were rescued by the police, he was unlucky to fell into the hands of another group of armed bandits as he was trying to escape.”
The Kidnappers, the group said, are demanding N10 million on Barrister Salisu, while negotiation for ransom on the NTA staff are yet to be concluded.
The Birnin Vanguard recalled that last week a former chairman of Birnin-Gwari local government, miraculously escaped from the hands of Kidnappers after overpowering them after a fight.
“The security situation has worsened in Birnin-Gwari with pockets of Kidnappings around Layin-Lassan, Layin-Mahuta (Tabanni), Maganda and southern part of Birnin-Gwari neighboring Niger State.
“We are calling on the security agencies to as a matter of urgency to Wade in and rescue all those kidnapped by armed bandits within Birnin-Gwari General area. Equally, we urged the military, the police and other security personnel to storm all identify all escaped routes of armed bandits from Zamfara state.
“We would like to register our dismay on the government of Kaduna State for keeping mum on the serious security situation in Birnin-Gwari local government area.
“We are indeed citizens of the state and our security of our lives and property constitutionally lies with the government of the day in Kaduna State,” the group stated.
