64-year-old killed while fighting ex-lover at Lagos bar

A 64-year-old man, Osita Anwuanwu, has been killed at a drinking joint in Ikotun, a suburb in Lagos State.

The deceased had allegedly gone to a drinking bar at Ikotun to reconcile with his ex-lover when a violent argument ensued between him and the owner of the bar.

It was learnt that while at the bar, the argument degenerated into fight between the deceased, the owner of the bar identified as Ngozi, and his ex-lover.

Lagos State Police Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said operatives have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.

Adejobi said the 64-year-old man was murdered at Arida area of Ikotun around 8.45pm on April 8, 2021.

He said the daughter of the deceased, Linda Anwuanwu, who resides at Temitope street, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun, was the person who, reported the incident to the police.

Adejobi said the deceased daughter informed the police that her father was lying down in a bar at Arida.

“She said her father was found lying down in the bar after he had a misunderstanding with Ngozi Emezue, 38, and Juliet Eguebor, 35.

“The Police Operatives at Ikotun Division raced to the scene and rescued the deceased to the General Hospital, Igando, where he was certified dead,” he said.

Adejobi further said that preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the deceased had gone to check his lady friend, Juliet, whom he had not seen for some times, at Ngozi’s bar, where he engaged the duo in a hot argument and physical assault before he slumped.

“The two suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Osita Anwuanwu” he added.
