She explained that the Abuja event of GolfSixes Nigeria 2021 will see the 64 senior players placed in 16 teams and involved in match play.

According to her, there will be 16 registered teams, four players per team and four groups.

“After every six holes of play, a winner emerges, and at the end of the opening day, the winners advance to the final on Sunday, when we will have other entertaining activities such as the Valentine Day Special, presentation of trophies and an evening of music,” she added.

The chief organiser explained that: “In our quest to recognize our senior players, especially those who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of Golf, we decided to dedicate this GOLFSIXES Nigeria inaugural tournament to them.

“We strongly believe that our senior players can still swing.

“These seasoned elders have the right attitude and skills that can be tapped by our youths to bring out the best in them as golfers, hence our need to showcase them at this event.”

Ekwueme also disclosed that the other three events of the inaugural GolfSixes Nigeria will hold in Port Harcourt in March, Aba in August and Ikeja in September.
