About 602 ex-Boko Haram fighters have graduated from the De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) programme of the Nigerian Army, after undergoing six months training at a camp in Gombe State.
Coordinator of the Operation Safe Corridor, Brig.-Gen. Bamidele Shafa, disclosed this yesterday at the graduation ceremony of the fourth batch of the DRR programme for the repentant Boko Haram members.
He said out of the 601 that graduated, 587 are Nigerians from 10 states of the federation, while 14 are foreign nationals from Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republics.
Shafa said that three died from health complications while one was referred to the Neuro-psychiatric Hospital in Maiduguri for further medical treatment, adding that one other person was withdrawn on disciplinary ground and transferred for re-categorization and prosecution.
The coordinator added that after they are reintegrated back to the society, they would further the training with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in their various states.
