60-year-old food vendor slumps, dies in Ondo

A 60-year-old food vendor, Iya Owolabi, on Monday, slumped and died while cooking on the popular Akinjagunala Street in Ondo West LGA Ondo State.

City & Crime learnt that the Iya Owolabi was preparing to make the favourite delicacies of moi-moi and pap when she fell and died.

A witness, Bose Akinwale, said all attempts to save the life of the woman proved abortive, adding that she was rushed to the nearest hospital where she was confirmed dead on arrival.

She further said, “Doctors who attended to her said she was dead before we brought her and explained that she had blood pressure.”

The police spokesperson in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed the incident, said family members of the deceased had been invited by the police for interrogation.
