6 ‘yahoo’ boys sent to prison in Kwara

Six people have been convicted and jailed for Internet fraud in Kwara State.

 The convicts were prosecuted on separate charges before Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court and Justice Adebayo Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court by the Ilọrin Zonal Command of the EFCC.

 They were charged for cybercrime and fraud-related offences by the Anti-graft Commission.

The convicts are Aransiola Oluwaseun Stephen, Owoeye Adeyanju Ezekiel, Idris Yekini Kayode, Abdulrahmon Abubakar, Rafiu Ashimiu Adisa and Raheem Ayomide Monsur from Kwara, Lagos and Oyo states.

 Their conviction brings to 24 of the 50 suspects comprising 48 students of the Kwara State University, (KWASU) and two residents of Malete arrested during a sting operation by the EFCC on February 21, 2024.

 They all pleaded guilty to their respective charges when it was read to them.

Innocent Mbachie, Adebayo Aliyu, Charles Oni and Rasheedat Alao represented the EFCC in the cases.

They were sentenced to various jail terms.

 The courts also ordered that the phones and laptops used as instrumentalities of the crime by the convicts and the money brought by them as restitution be forfeited to the federal government.
