6 oil producing communities benefit from water project in Imo

Six oil producing communities in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area have benefitted from water projects executed by the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC)

The six villages are Umuosu, Umuogidi, Umuikwo, Umuogba, Umuodukosu and Umumara in the Obile autonomous community.

The Managing Director and CEO of ISOPADEC, Chief Charles Orie, while inaugurating the projects, said it was the first time in history that the communities are benefitting from the water supply scheme of ISOPADEC.

“Under the Governor Hope Uzodimma led administration in Imo State, the oil producing communities are witnessing consistent interventions on development projects, which the communities themselves demanded for.

“Our approach is bottom up – the communities choose projects peculiar to their realities,” he said.

He disclosed that the Commission does not impose projects on communities.

“All our projects are people and community driven – they are projects the communities demanded. Projects that are peculiar to the communities in question,” he added.
