6 killed, 8 injured in Abuja auto crash

Six persons were killed and eight others injured in a motor accident in the early hours of Thursday at Awawa village in Abaji Area Council of the FCT on the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

A witness, who noted that the accident involved an 18-seater bus and a DAF truck, said it happened around 5am when the bus coming from the Lokoja axis rammed into the truck from behind.

He said six persons died on the spot and that eight others sustained injuries and were rushed to the Abaji General Hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

City & Crime learnt that the victims were travelling from Lagos to Jos, Plateau State.

When contacted, the Abaji Unit Commander of FRSC, Abubakar Shehu Dogon- Daji, attributed the accident to loss of control and speed limit violation by the bus driver.
