This is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Yemi Nelson, the Minister’s Chief Press Secretary.
The statement said the suspension was as a result of lapses observed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on the minister’s arrival from a recent ICAO meeting.
It said among the suspended officials were Abdullahi Chekene, the Terminal Manager of the airport, Mohammed Zubair, head of a unit and four others.
It quoted the minister as saying that “the next time he comes across such lapses at the airport, he would order the mass sack of staff.’’
It also said that the minister had secured a bid for Nigeria to host the secretariat of the Banjul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organisation (BAGASOO) at the meeting.
The bid, according to the minister, will make Nigeria the centre of aviation safety in Africa. (NAN)
