Six people were feared dead and another six injured in multiple roads crashes in Ogun State on Friday.
One person died in a lone accident at the Sagamu interchange on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The accident, which happened at about 2.30am involved a Nissan pickup vehicle with registration number AA 240 ZY.
The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Ahmed Umar, who confirmed the accident to journalists in Abeokuta, attributed the cause to excessive speeding and loss of control.
He said the second accident occurred in Arebi Village before Mamu along Ago-Iwoye – Ibadan Road at 12.56pm.
Umar said the crash involved an Opel Safira car with registration number FN73APP and a Mazda bus marked FST877YC, adding that of the 11 passengers involved, five died and six were injured.
He said, “the suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.
“The injured victims have been taken to General Hospital Ijebu Ode and the corpses of the victims deposited at the same hospital’s mortuary.
Umar cautioned motorists on speed violations, especially during this period of high vehicular movement.
