The Edo State Police Command has arrested six people for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and withdrawing N400,000 from the account of one Mrs Omoyemi Oviosu.
The suspects are Okechukwu Joseph, 32; Prince Efe, 26; Faith Effiong, 22; Oliver Gozi, 26; David Richard Ughotevbe, 20; and Azeez Adio, 20.

Parading the suspects, the command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwanbuzor, said they were arrested by the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime Unit of the command following a complaint from Mrs Oviosu.
He said the police on May 17, received information from Mrs Oviosu that on May 5, robbers broke into her house at No 50 Okunseri Street, off Dumez Road, Benin City and stole her Itel android phone and other valuables including her ATM card.
According to him, the suspects withdrew the sum of N400,000 from the complainant’s bank account the following day.
He said the suspects were arrested using technical intelligence, adding that one of them was arrested in Oyo State while five others were arrested in Edo State.
He said the suspects have confessed to being members of the criminal syndicate that stole phones, and other valuables, hacked into bank accounts and stole their victims’ money.
He said the suspect will be charged in court.
