He told newsmen that the letters were distributed to the teachers on behalf of the state government by the chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Otunba Ade Adeniyi.
According to him, the promotion exercise is an evidence of the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of teachers and the desire to appreciate their contributions to the attainment of the education policy of government. He recalled that at the inception of the present administration, it promised to create a friendly learning environment and provide the necessary motivation for teachers as a major tool for enhancing the quality of education in public primary schools.
This, he said has been demonstrated in the establishment of 44 Caring Heart Mega Primary Schools across the state, with state of the art equipment and learning materials.
The commissioner stressed that training and re-training of teachers have been aggressively embarked upon to develop their capacity for effective performance, while the state is one of the few in the federation where the 27.5% Teachers Salary Structure (TSS) is being implemented. He urged the teachers to reciprocate government’s gesture by putting in their best at all times for better performance of pupils.
State chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Comrade Ojo Fanimokun commended the government for the promotion.
