About 57 medical personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force (Nigerian Medical Contingent (NIMED 6) have been deployed to the Level II Hospital for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on Peace Keeping mission.

The troops were exposed to the UN rules of engagement, status of forces agreement, status of mission agreement and peace support operations diary, among others.

Speaking at their graduation at the Martin Luther Agwai Peacekeeping and Leadership Center, Jaji in Kaduna, the Commander, Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Major General Stevenson Olabanji, urged the troops to remain professional in the discharge of their duties in Mali following the successful completion of their training.

The Acting Commandant of the centre, Brigadier General Umar Musa, said the troops were specifically tutored on the UN’s core values and competence, sexual exploitation and abuse, escort of VIPs, protection of civilians and the UN code of conduct for peacekeepers among others.
