55-year-old woman beheaded in Osun

A 55-year-old woman identified as Iya Elekuru was killed in Ile-Ife on Sunday by suspected ritualists who cut off her head and hands.

It was gathered that the woman from Modakeke town was lured to a house and killed by unidentified persons while hawking food at Ogbingin area, Ile-Ife.

Her head and hands were taken away by the suspects. Some angry youths burnt the building where the corpse of the woman was found.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Olawale Olokode, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.

Olokode who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, Yemisi Opalola, said investigations had commenced on the incident.

The police spokesman said the remains of the deceased would be released to her family for burial.
