A magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand in prison of a 52-year-old man, Emmanuel Manyan, over alleged rape.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant on July 21, 2024, in Osan-Ekiti, raped a 13-year-old girl.
Insp Bamikole told the court that the defendant and the victim lived in the same neighbourhood, and that he gave her some money and lured her into the bush where he raped her.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant pending advice from the the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, ordered the remand of the defendant in prison and adjourned the case to September 2.
