The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Taraba State yesterday said 51,890 Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) are still in its custody after the February 5, deadline for collection.
The Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) for Taraba, Umar Gajiram, disclosed this in Jalingo during the signing of a peace accord by gubernatorial candidates.
The event was organised by the Kukah Centre in partnership with the Taraba State Independent Peace Committee.
The REC commended the Kukah Centre for the initiative, which he said had not only deepened democracy, but also encouraged citizens’ participation in the electoral process.

The Chairman of the Peace Committee in the state, Prof Talla Ngarka, said the accord was to secure the commitment of political parties to rein in their supporters to conduct themselves in a civil manner before, during and after the elections.
