5-Star football premier league berths in Abuja

No fewer than 16 teams are set to battle for the 2020 5-Star Football Premier League, a 7-week of competitive football starting from 12th of September to October 24, 2020 in Abuja.

The Chief Executive Officer 5-Stars Football and Consultancy Ltd, Olumide Aturu said the tournament is aimed at developing grassroots football as well as being an awareness campaign against rape and crime.

“We are going to brand our shirts: “Say no to rape” “Sports for peace’ and we have the like of Ned Nwoko Foundation, UNESCO, NATIP, and Osasu show foundation.

“This is the grassroots initiative that we have started since, it was not easy at all, getting people together, making sure we give people dream to their career but I just want to appreciate people that believed in the process from the beginning,” he said.

He stated that all COVID-19 protocols would be observed at the start of the tournament while commending the PTF towards combating the pandemic in the country.

Aturu added that apart from N800,000 prize money, the most valuable player and the highest goal scorer would be taken to an all-paid trip to Dubai.

“We thank the PTF for the meritorious work in combating the spread of COVID-19 so far and the restart of non-contact sport and the opening of recreational centers in the country” he said.

“It’s a five aside football that will be played in a recreation center, so we decided to start the league taking note of all the COVID-19 protocols. Having the face mask on if you’re playing and social distances, testing and monitoring the players,” he said.
